Definition
of Music
The term music derives
from the Greek word “Musa” which is a singular form for the nine Muses of
antiquity who embodied the arts. Originally, every artistic or spiritual
activity was called music. In Plato’s “Politeia” which is translated in English
“The Republic”, he mentions that “Music is for the soul, what gymnastics is for
the body”. There was no specific term for the music but according to the type
of musical performance the corresponding terms were used. At least, five of the
nine Muses were protectors of different types of music performance. The term
“music” as we use it today, was established in the 4th century BC.
Today, all western languages utilize some form of the Greek word to refer to
the art of sound such as music, musik, musica etc.

Ήταν ο Χειμαριώτης Δημητρίου, γνωστός με τη λαϊκή προσωνυμία Μητρόπουλος, όνομα το οποίο με τα χρόνια άλλαξε και έγινε Mitre. Eπίσης το 1825, ο Δωδεκανήσιος Αντώνης Βαρκάς, σύμφωνα με την εφημερίδα El Dia είχε πάρει μέρος στην εκστρατεία 33 Ουρουγουανών για να απελευθερώσουν τη χώρα από τη βραζιλιάνικη κατοχή. Η βοήθειά του και οι γνώσεις του αποδείχθηκαν καθοριστικές για την επιτυχία της προσπάθειας των 33 ηρώων όπως τους αποκαλούν σήμερα στην Ουρουγουάη.

Περίπου χίλια χιλιόμετρα νότια του Ρίο Ντεζανέιρο και 1500 χιλιόμετρα βόρεια της Ουρουγουάης, στη νότια Βραζιλία, είναι η πρωτεύουσα του νομού Σάντα Καταρίνα. Ο νομός έχει έκταση όσοι 150 δικοί μας νομοί. . .Οι περισσότεροι κάτοικοι είναι μετανάστες από την Ευρώπη και κυρίως από τη Γερμανία. Η επιλογή της Φλοριανόπολης ήταν εντελώς τυχαία. Βρέθηκα ουρανοκατέβατος σε μια χαμένη Ατλαντίδα με υπέροχα καταπράσινα νησάκια. Είναι μια από τις πιο ασφαλείς πόλεις της Βραζιλίας. Ωστόσο πρέπει να προσέχεις. Θυμίζει περισσότερο με Ευρώπη. Το μόνο που δεν έχει είναι τα διαυγή κρυστάλλινα γαλάζια νερά του Αιγαίου.
Once a year, every village church
celebrates the patronal feast of its saint. On this day, the villagers
congregate at a fair or communal meal and dance. The dance is held in the
church forecourt, the village square or a chorostási – a threshing floor.
Typically, a panigyri (patronal feast) lasts for three days. The festivities
occur on the day preceding and the day after; and on the actual day, people
gather from far and wide to join in the celebration. This is a time for people
to come together, ease social tensions, sort out family matters, and maybe even
find future matrimonial partners for their kin.

How many of you love chocolate? How many of you love coconut? I love both! And was very lucky to visit a famous chocolate factory called Anastasia Confections in Orlando, Florida where they make the finest chocolate dipped coconut patties! Anastasia Confections machine make over 10,000 coconut patties a day. They use over a half a million pounds of coconut each year. That’s the weight of 150 cars stacked up one on top of the other! They also use over 350,000 pounds of chocolate every year. That’s about 100 cars stacked up one on top of the other. That’s huge!
